Dive Rite LX20 Review

Overview

Lighting is a cogent part of diving kit for every scuba diver, especially when you are diving in a cave or wreckage. In this Dive Rite LX20 Review, we will be discussing the features and characteristics of this amazing dive lights. Much so, we will touch on the benefits of this dive light as effective accessories as to a good dive experience.

The Dive Rite LX20 is a very compact and lightweight handheld dive light that can be used as a primary light. The light is made with a unique LED chip that is capable of outputting great lights for your dive locations. The LX20 is fitted with four light modes: the strobe, low power, medium power and high power modes that have different use and meet different needs. With these modes, you can switch from low to high powered flashes to suit your light needs per time.

It has some four Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries that can power the flashlight for a long duration of hours when you underwater. The Lithium Ion rechargeable 18650 3400ma protected-circuit batteries of the Dive Rite LX20 burns for four hours on high power, six hours on medium power, 12 hours on low power, and 36 hours in strobe mode. So, depending on the mode you set it to, you can have a good usage time that meets how long you spend down at the bottom of the water.

Dive Rite LX20 Review

For maximum assurance of the LX20 flashlight, Dive Rite went the extra mile to make sure each light conforms with the reputable standards it was designed under. Every light is individually tested, and the average LUX is measured at one meter using a Konica Minolta Chroma Meter just so that the light delivers maximum user experience for you.

In measurement, it stands at only 5.8-inches (15 cm) in length and 2.15-inches (5.5 cm) in diameter. Even with this small size, the LX20 delivers big bright lights that are amazing for its size. Given its 20,000 LUX at approximately 6,500 Kelvin, the LX20 shines a brightness that is better than what most corded primary lights on the market today can deliver. That is some great advantage and a good reason why a diver should opt for this light over others.

Designed as a primary light, the LX20’s 6-degree concentrated light beam, reflecting off a polished metal reflector, punches through the water lighting the way with a clean center spot. Its compact design and provided quick release soft hand mount make it ideal for any type of diving requiring a good light source as well as travelling where weight matters.

An integrated microprocessor control unit monitors battery voltage to keep the light operating at its peak efficiency. As battery voltage drops, light output steps down eliminating the possibility of suddenly being left in the dark due to a dead battery. The light alerts the diver of this step down in light output by a series of flashes, after which, the light produces another 20-minutes of usable light.

With a 500 foot (152 m) depth rating, a rotary magnetic on/off switch, and a double o-ring seal body providing proven protection against flooding, the LX20 excels under all the rigors of diving. Providing reliability, durability, and a light output brightness few other lights can boast, the LX20 is the next generation of technology-driven handheld lights that will take your diving to new levels whether exploring caves, penetrating wrecks, or night diving on a reef.

Editors’ Opinion

This is a very compact dive light that is good enough to be used as a primary light for scuba diving and yet still small enough to be kept in your pockets.
